Chris Poole & Marietta Wandall Duo
Flute and grand piano play modern jazz
In 1976 Marietta Wandall was playing in a samba orchester in Musikcafeen in Copenhagen. After the concert a young American flute player, Chris Poole came over to her and said; " Hi, I am also a women jazz musician, why don't we do something together?"
That was the start of a 30 year collaboration with periods of duo, trio quartet and quintet. With performances amongst others at the Louisiana museum in Humlebæk and The Glyptoteket in Copenhagen.
They like to work with other musicians like the percissionist Marilyn Mazur or Birgit Løkke Larsen.
Both Chris and Marietta compose so their music revolves around their own compositions – with a solid ancor in modern jazz and inspiration from classic as well as world music.
The duo performs in rooms with good acoustics and a good grand piano.
